Copper Inlay Stone Mosaic Ganesh Offering Bowl
A really special copper offering bowl with inlaid stone work and brass Lord Ganesh embellishments. Ganesha is the elephant-headed god of Hindu myth. He is the remover of obstacles and represents abundance, and is the joining principle of energy. Can also be used for incense (with sand), potpourri, etc. Made in India.
Lord Ganesha is younger son of Lord Shiva and Parvati. With the help of turmeric paste from her body and by breathing life into it, Parvati declared him to be her own son. On one occassion, Parvati wished to bathe, and she posted Ganesha on guard duty at the door. In due course, Shiva returned home, only to find this strange boy telling him he couldn't enter his own house. Shiva decided he would to fight him, and in his divine fury, severed Ganesha's head from his body. Upon hearing this, Parvati was so enraged she decided to destroy all of creation. She said whosoever done this will have to pay heavy price. Shiva realized his mistake. Brahma soon returned with the head of a strong and powerful elephant, which Shiva placed on to Ganesha's body. He declared Ganesha to be his own son as well, and gave him the status of being foremost among the gods & leader of all the ganas, Ganpati.. Can also be used for incense (with sand), potpourri, etc.
