Maha Kumbha Mela Chants (CD)
The Children of India's Singhania School
A new generation of vibrant young voices brings the ancient musical traditions of India to life! This award-winning children's chorus performed these traditional Indian chants during the Maha Kumbha Mela in Allahabad, India embodying the Mela's energy of renewal.
Once every 144 years, due to the alignment of celestial bodies and the intense spiritual practices of saints and sages, benevolent forces are perfectly polarized at the convergence of India's sacred rivers. This event is the Maha Kumbha Mela, which last took place in January 2001 in its traditional setting on the bank of the Ganges in Allahabad, the City of God.
The energy of the Maha Kumbha Mela is one of ancient traditions brought to life by a new generation in order to shape a better world. It is in this spirit that the children of the Singhania School performed these chants, their young voices bringing to life the ancient musical traditions of India.
